Mike and Tracy Ann started their journey with Highlands when their youngest daughter, Hope, showed interest in showing in 2019. They have an agricultural background and knew at some point they wanted to be more involved and have a farm of their own. Well they were awarded an opportunity to manage the farm Hope showed for and jumped at the chance. This was an opportunity to learn and develop their own herd with some great mentors (Jean and Richard Gruenert).
We established our farm in 2020 as Big Sky Scottish Highland Cattle Company. Our goal is to continue to learn and assist other juniors with opportunities. We use our local FFA kids to assist on the farm and offer opportunities for engagement with showing. The goal is to continue this process and introduce cow camps (so watch for some dates) with the guidance of many members that have been involved for years. While the farm has no real location of our own, while we continue to manage the Gruenert farm (Four T Acres), the goal is to establish a location in TN someday. For now continuing to assist new members and increase the junior involvement is where we have our sites. Remembering to remain humble and continue to learn through increased involvement.
