our mission…To provide a network of resources, programs, and events that improve and promote the Highland breed, while strengthening the community of our family farmers and youth, and educate the consumer.
The Midwest Highland Cattle Association (MWHCA) serves Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio as a regional affiliate of the American Highland Cattle Association (AHCA).
Benefits of the Midwest Highland Cattle Association:
Host events and activities centered around Highland Cattle within the Midwest region.
Provide valuable information for breeders and prospective owners of Highland Cattle.
Promote and encourage improvement of the Highland Cattle breed.
Provide a Junior Program for dedicated youth interested in the Highland breed.
What We’ve Achieved.
Currently 80+ breeders as members in the association, and growing.
Reputable breeders in 7 states including MI, IN, IL, OH, NE, WI and MN.
Currently host 3 regional shows annually in MI and planning a show in OH for 2023.
Sponsor Annual Picnics and Gatherings hosted by members/breeders for education sessions & networking within the region.
Junior membership is growing.
Created educational materials with factual information for the consumer that members can use to promote their farm.
Have an open line of communication within the association to help buy/sell registered cattle.
Share upcoming events thru social media.
Planning Cow Camps in 2023 at various members farms for the Junior Program.
